As a young girl I started creating beaded necklaces and earrings on summer and winter vacations as a way to busy myself. After many years making this style I felt an urge to produce more sophisticated designs and this led me to enroll in courses where I could develop my craft. In 2007 I founded Jessica Jansen Designs which has continued to evolve to this day.
As an independent small business woman I am the fourth generation to continue the craft of jewelry design, creation and sales. With pride I share my original designs through stores in Canada, the United States and abroad. My home studio is located in Vancouver, British Columbia where I find inspiration in the natural beauty of my birth city, and surrounding landscape. I strive to create unique, simple, elegant, and modern jewelry for all occasions, each piece being hand made, and with no mass production.
Exclusive designs from nature; each piece in this collection is handpicked as the designer hikes, rock climbs, skis or, most risky of all, conducts a neighbourhood stroll. Pine cones, acorns, seed pods, fungi and more are chosen for their exquisite details and potential to be cast in a process called “organic casting” wherein the natural form is replaced by metal, usually bronze or silver. During the casting process the textures come alive, adding to the charm and allure of this collection. Each piece is truly unique!
